Nagamimi is a major character in 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. She serves as your navigator, along with Mio Nagumo.

Personality[]

At first, Nagamimi appears to be polite and friendly, however this is merely an act for her work. When Unit 13 joins Nodens, she shows her true personality to be rude and harsh to them. She is known to constantly insult people and usually uses vile language in her sentences.

Despite her harsh personality, she eventually appears as a tsundere-type (A character who appears cold and hostile to a character to hide their affection) to Unit 13 specifically. Though she still insults them, she does show to have confidence in Unit 13 and even sometimes show concern for them.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD[]

Nagamimi first appears at the very beginning of the game, alongside Allie and Julietta. The three of them discuss about finding a dragon hunter before Unit 13 enters.

When Mio Nagumo and Yaiba go to 7th Encount, Nagamimi greets them and asks for a ticket in order to get in. Since Yaiba doesn't have a ticket, Mio gives Nagamimi hers and says that Yaiba can come with her. Nagamimi allows them both into 7th Encount. She later appears, saying that Yaiba and her party have been chosen to go into the main office of Nodens. When outside, Nagamimi introduces herself as the 'Almighty Nagamimi" and orders them not to treat her like some cute little rabbit. Mio wonders why Nagamimi is being rude to them, which she explains it's how she really is and how she hates acting proper for work. Nagamimi then takes them to see Allie and Julietta. Mio and Yaiba wonder what's going on, and Nagamimi tells them they have the qualities to fight dragons, Yaiba being a dragon hunter and Mio being a Navigator. Mio leaves as she can't fight, however, Yaiba and her party stay with Nodens. Nagamimi is the one to warn Allie, Julietta, and the newly named Unit 13 that there are dragons attacking. Unit 13 rushes outside and Nagamimi goes after them, saying they'll get themselves killed. After the fight with the High Dragon and the ISDF's appearance, Nagamimi is with Julietta and Allie, saying on how the ISDF will be investigating for sure.

Nagamimi acts as Unit 13's Navigator when they are sent to the past in Atlantis. She wishes that they could've explained more and tells Unit 13 on how they are in Atlantis from the past. She also explains about the Lucier and Unit 13's goal to get Nyala's specimen for the Dragon Chronicle. When Unit 13 find a boy poisoned by the Dragonsbane, Nagamimi tells them to leave him and focus on the mission. Unit 13 refuses and begs her to let them take him back to Tokyo. She reluctantly agrees and states that she wasn't showing mercy, and it was because the boy had meat on him and that she'd like to eat him, which Unit 13 thinks she's serious about. Later, Unit 13 finds a dragon as well as a huge stone behind it. After defeating the dragon, Unit 13 is told by Nagamimi to get closer to the stone so she could see what it was. Before they could investigate, Tallieri stops Unit 13 and tells them to leave. Nagamimi says to Unit 13 to not worry about the Lucier and to continue their test and hunt two more dragons. Once their test is over, Yuma and Yoritomo show up, which Nagamimi is upset with for Allie and Julietta allowing the ISDF to use the portal without her permission. Yuma promises to meet Unit 13 again but next time in Tokyo then leaves with Yoritomo. Nagamimi tells Unit 13 to return to Nodens and build their dorm room with the Dz they got from the dragons and report to Allie in the War Room.

Throughout chapter 2, Nagamimi takes the role as Unit 13's Navigator. Unit 13, Yuma, and Yoritomo head to Cladeon, and the ISDF goes ahead. Nagamimi insults the two men then tells Unit 13 to jump onto the floating boulders to reach inner Cladeon. She also reassures Unit 13 to not fall or they'd die and end up splattered everywhere. When Unit 13 hesitates to do so, Nagamimi gets irritated, but says to follow the ISDF's path and that she wouldn't force them to jump, even though they'd eventually have to. When Unit 13 get new recruits, Nagamimi is shown at the residential area of Cladeon, having brought a terminal for them. She also is the one to lecture you on how to use the buddy skills to break enemies. Nagamimi shows up later when Unit 13 confronts Mio, who wants to speak with Allie. Nagamimi tells the receptionist at Nodens to leave Mio to her for she was an 'acquaintance' of hers. She then threatens Mio and demands why she was there. Mio says that she wants to speak to Allie and become Unit 13's Navigator in order to help them. Mio then leaves once she finally gained permission. Once she is gone, Nagamimi tells Unit 13 to get to their dormitory.

Nagamimi wakes Unit 13 up the next day, telling them to come to the War Room and talk with Allie for she has good news. At the War Room, it is revealed that Mio has became a Navigator alongside Nagamimi. Nagamimi tells Mio that she will now be her subordinate and do as she says. She starts ordering Mio around but is shortly interrupted by Julietta. He calls her an idiot and tells her to stop bossing Mio around. Nagamimi and Mio act as Unit 13's Navigators when they are sent to the Berg Sea Palace to kill Nyala.

In chap 3.6, Nagamimi is mentioned once by Allie, with her saying on how she is busy with the post Atlantis Evacuation process. When Unit 13 is sent to the Tokyo Underground in search of cats for the Cat Café, Nagamimi once again is sent to guide Unit 13. She complains about how stupid the Cat Café idea is and how she thinks it's pointless to look for cats. She also sarcastically suggests to add the Lucier into the café as well. Nagamimi then orders Unit 13 to get their search over with after telling them how many cats there are to find. She doesn't return until Unit 13 finds a tabby cat trying to fight a dragon. Nagamimi calls the cat dumb and orders Unit 13 to save it before it gets ate by the dragon. She later comes back after Unit 13 has gotten all the cats then doesn't come back for the rest of the quest.

Since Mio is absent from her illness, Nagamimi is the only Navigator Unit 13 has for chapter 4. Nagamimi first appears when she orders Unit 13 to get to the War Room, for there's an emergency. She is also present for the strategy meeting when the Dragonsbane spreaded across Tokyo. When Unit 13 goes to Eden, Nagamimi explains to them about the ruins up ahead. Unit 13 heads to the ruins which is sealed off. Nagamimi tells them to talk to the people around Eden and see if they know anything. She appears again when Unit 13 meets Emel, Brijilt, Sailas, and Nagiri in the guild hall. When the group goes back to the ruins, Nagamimi points out on how the ruins are actually the same one from Atlantis. She tells Unit 13 to not worry, for they have the queen of Atlantis with them at Tokyo. Sailas asks Unit 13 who they are talking to and they show him the Nodens Watch. He is shocked and gasps at the sight of a "weird rabbit". Nagamimi quickly takes offense and lashes at Sailas for his comment. When Unit 13 returns to Tokyo, Nagamimi tells them to talk to Ulania then make a progress report to Allie. She returns when Unit 13 goes back to Eden with Ulania and continues her role as Navigator. Nagamimi is the one that upgraded the portal and sent Unit 13 a terminal when they get new recruits.

In chapter 5, Nagamimi first appears telling Unit 13 to report to the War Room for another strategy meeting. She is later shown along with Allie Julietta, the ISDF, and the group from Eden where they discussed about Emel and Preloma. After the meeting, Unit 13 meets up with everyone at Portal. They try to discuss a plan, yet are shortly interrupted by Mio. Nagamimi is annoyed by Mio’s sudden appearance and asks her why she is here. Mio tells her that she has a plan and that she has recovered most of the map of Preloma. Nagamimi is impressed by Mio’s skills and decides to let her navigate as a test to prove herself. Nagamimi and Mio navigate for Unit 13 throughout Preloma, telling them where to find the High Dragons and Emel, who is turning into the 4th True Dragon. After Emel is killed by Unit 13, Nagamimi tells Unit 13 to return to Nodens.

In chapter 5.1,  Nagamimi doesn't formally appear in the three main quests, but she is in some of the side quests.

In chapter 6,  Nagamimi is shown with Allie, asking if her job as Unit 13's navigator is now over. Allie says it is and that Unit 13 doesn't need a guide anymore. Nagamimi is very pleased that she doesn't have to watch over them "brats" anymore then says that she is going to go catch up with her sleep. Before she leaves, she tells Allie that she won't be getting in her way, but to not underestimate Unit 13, for she is an idiot if she does so. Mio later asks Julietta where Nagamimi was. Julietta replies that she could be with ND or that she could be somewhere dead. Mio takes his answer and then says that she's the only navigator left.

After the world is destroyed and Unit 13 absorbs everything, Nagamimi returns as their guide. She explains that Unit 13 now has to fight the 7th True Dragon, VFD. When she and Unit 13 are in the Grateful Seventh, Nagamimi creates a portal for Unit 13. She tells them that the portal will take them back to Nodens at a time before everyone died, however, nothing in there is real.Nagamimi navigates Unit 13 through the Grateful Seventh and reveals the figure that had been following them to be Iod. After VFD is defeated, Nagamimi appears with the leader of Unit 13, telling them to wish for whatever world they want.

When the world is rebuilt, Nagamimi is the first one Unit 13 sees, now as a human. Nagamimi tells Unit 13 that everyone has forgot about them and dragons no longer exist, neither does Allie, Yuma, Chika, or Rika. Despite this, Unit 13 is not upset by how the new world is. Whenever Unit 13 potentially flirts with Nagamimi as a human, she calls them a pervert and blames them for her new form. After explaining about the new world, she tells Unit 13 to go see for themselves what’s changed and to come back to her if they get lonely.

If Unit 13 talks with Akutsu, Nagamimi appears and tells him that Julietta would be there soon. Before leaving, she tells Unit 13 that Akutsu doesn‘t remember anything.

When Unit 13 finishes looking around and returns to Nagamimi, she asks them what they thought and that some fragments of the old world is still there. She expresses her faith in humanity and says that anything is possible from it. She then adds that because of this, Allie and Yuma may possibly still be alive, but quickly discards it, saying it’d be “way too convenient.” Nagamimi then tells Unit 13 that Mio should be back soon and later watches Unit 13 reunite with Mio.

Nyadens Crisis[]

Nagamimi is one of six main characters in the Drama CD, alongside Allie, Yuma, Mio, Nagiri, and Ulania. She first appears in the prologue, interrupting a conversation between Mio and Unit 13, telling them that there is an emergency and that the cats from Nyadens have gone missing.

When Rushédens is created, Nagamimi becomes the manager of the cafe. In chapter 2, she orders Mio, Ulania, and Nagiri to repeat her and greet the customers with “Welcome back, master, nya~!”. Despite this, she never participates in the cafe other then running it as manager.

Relationships[]

  • Unit 13: Nagamimi first appears to dislike Unit 13, often getting annoyed with them or insulting them. However, she eventually starts to show a softer side to the group, at some points expressing her concern and even worrying about them at times. She later on shows trust in Unit 13 and puts her faith in them saving the world from VFD. Nagamimi also acts as Unit 13’s Navigator throughout the whole game, with the exception of chapter 6. She can also develop a relationship with the leader of the group, going on dates with them, and even implied to have done something with them (it’s implied to be sexual, but is left up to the player to decide).
  • Mio: Mio works alongside Nagamimi as Unit 13’s Navigator. Nagamimi acts like Mio’s boss and pretends to be more superior than her. She tends to show annoyance towards Mio at times, calling her a brat on multiple occasions. Despite this, Nagamimi does acknowledge Mio’s talent with navigation and lets Mio guide Unit 13 alongside her in chapter 5. In Nyadens Crisis, Mio refers to Nagamimi as Nagamimi-chan, a term for close female friends. The term has different meanings, so it’s unknown why the honorific is added, but it could imply the two have became closer by chapter 5.1.
  • Allie Nodens: Not much is shown between them, though Allie is Nagamimi’s boss. In Unit 13’s dates with Nagamimi, she calls Allie a “slave driver“ and talks about how Allie overworks the employees of Nodens. In the Visual Collection, it is confirmed that ND herself was the one who destroyed Nagamimi’s original planet, though it is unknown if Nagamimi knows who Allie really is. However, it is implied in chapter 6 that Nagamimi knew about Allie, even threatening her, saying that Unit 13 would never let things go Allie’s way. Even after Allie’s reveal as ND, Nagamimi still calls ND by her false name.
  • Julietta: Julietta and Nagamimi do not seem to get along. He insults her often and had gotten angered by her telling Unit 13 to let the Lucier come to Nodens without his permission. Not much is shown about their personal relationship other than that, however.
  • Yoritomo: Despite Nagamimi’s clear dislike towards the ISDF, her and Yoritomo have more of a business relationship with each other. Yoritomo communicated with Nagamimi during the dragon hunt in Cladeon in chapter 3. At the end of the game, Yoritomo is shown with Mio when she reunited with Unit 13 and Nagamimi.

Trivia[]

  • Though most people think she is a male or simply an it, her gender was confirmed more than once:
    • Her human form is female.
    • In the visual collection of 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, Shirow Miwa refers to Nagamimi with feminine pronouns more than once.
    • In chapter 5.1, when the player tries to go to bed and end the chapter, Nagamimi warns the player (because the boss fight at the beginning of chapter 6) and in doing so tells them to not "come crying to their Nagamommy saying there were things they needed to do.", implying that she was always a female.
    • Nagamimi was originally intended to be a human the whole time, meaning she was always intended to be female.
    • In Nyadens Crisis, Mio refers to her as Nagamimi-chan. Though this could be for numerous reasons, -chan is usually used as a suffix for girls.
    • Nagamimi’s voice in the drama cd is more high-pitched than in the game. Though Kobayashi could’ve simply changed the voice she used originally, there’s some scenes where Nagamimi’s voice is very feminine.
    • In Nyadens Crisis, Nagamimi trains the girls on how to greet the cafe customers. Though the greeting she says was for the girls to repeat, “ご主人様” is used to refer to males.
  • The Visual Collection, it is revealed that ND had destroyed Nagamimi’s planet.
    • In chapter 6 of Code: VFD, it is implied that Nagamimi knew who Allie actually was, but it’s unknown if this is the reason for this.
  • Her original form was based on the female Hacker in 2020's rabbit since Shirow Miwa wanted a "simple design", however he did not know about Nagamimi's human form at the time.
  • Shirow had also said in the visual collection of Code: VFD that he liked drawing Nagamimi's human form and wished she had appeared as a human more in the game.
  • In chapter 3.6, when Unit 13 is looking for cats to put in the cat cafe, Nagamimi sarcastically remarks that they should put some Lucier into the cat cafe as well and make it a "Cat Ear cafe". Ironically, this is exactly what happens in Nyadens Crisis and Nagamimi takes part in it. She is also the one who suggests the idea and later on becomes the manager of Rushédens.
  • After the third date with her, she will give you a Duelist weapon, Volume EX.
  • In her human form, she is surprisingly short, managing to be shorter than the female Duelist and the female Hacker in 2020.
    • Out of the NPCs, her human form is possibly one of the shortest characters in the game.
  • In the Visual Collection, Nagamimi was supposed to appear as a human at the beginning of the game, with her holding the rabbit plush instead, similar to the female Hacker in 2020. This could be the reason her human form appears in early artwork.
  • Yu Kobayashi had accidentally spoiled Nagamimi’s human form’s identity months before the game was released.
